#6 Go south following the canal
Continue south, until you reach the Horse Head Drinking Fountain. This area is full of restaurants and cafés to relax sometime.
Go right to enter the Begijnhof, and have a walk in the surrounding gardens and Wijngaardplein park.
#7 Relax at Minnewaterpark
From Begijnenvest, have a walk next to the Minnewater and reach Powder Tower for a great view of the park.
Since you’ve just finished visiting the most important sites in the city, you can stop and enjoy the green at Minnewaterpark.
#8 Rent a bike to go faster
Bruges, or at least the city center, is not very big. In fact, from Sint-Janshuismolen – the most northern site of this itinerary – to Powder Tower – the most southern site of this itinerary – it only takes 32 minutes on foot. However, it can be very nice to explore this city by bike and enjoy some fresh air in your hair.
There are several bike rentals around the city, but first remember to ask your hotel if they can provide you with a bike.
#9 Admire the canals from a boat
If you like to walk, then admire the beautiful canals on foot. Prepare your itinerary and go!
If like me, you also want to have a look from the perspective of the canal itself, then head to one of the several boat excursions companies (the route is almost the same for all of them) and enjoy the 1/2-hour tour around the city. It is really nice, recommended!
We opted from the tour starting at the crossing between Huidenvettersplein and Vismarkt, right in front of The Chocolate Crown chocolate shop.
#10 Enjoy delicious cramiques
When visiting Belgium, and Bruxelles in particular, you should have some waffles at least once during your visit.
In Bruges, we had waffles near Markt square, but one thing I would truly highly suggest is the chocolate cramique at Aux Merveilleux De Fred. Eaten freshly baked, these very big brioches with chocolate chips. Perfect for a delicious, yet a bit fat, breakfast!
My opinion about Bruges
If I have to choose one only city to visit in Belgium, it will be Bruges for sure! It looks like it was drawn, it’s like in a painting, it’s a true bijou. You can visit the most relevant sites in just one day, but it is truly worth it, and you won’t regret it! Beautiful!
