With its picturesque canal network, a UNESCO world heritage site since 2010, Amsterdam is not a city for cars. Of course, you will find some; however, the best way to go around and reach all the attractions fast & easy is to rent a bike.
Rent a bike in Amsterdam
But where do you find a bike? The first thing is asking your hotel, they might have some bikes to rent. Otherwise, there is plenty of bike rentals. We opted for Black Bikes as they have 14 locations around the city, and one was very close to our hotel. The cool is that you can rent the bike at one location and then return it to a different one. And, of course, they will provide you with lockers.
When renting a bike in Amsterdam remember one thing. Bikes are like cars in every other city. You cannot just hang around, stop in the way, and do whatever you want just because you are a tourist and maybe not sure about the route. Be sure to keep the right and park your bike only where allowed (which means everywhere but where there are specific signs not allowing bikes parking). And also, don’t forget to properly lock the bikes: better if you manage to lock them to one another, and then one with a lamppost/bike locker. Enjoy your ride!
