Amsterdam: Do, Eat, Sleep

Do, Eat, Sleep in Amsterdam

Where to eat in Amsterdam

Let’s talk food now!

Breakfast at De Laatste Kruimel

Amsterdam - Eat
  • FOOD 7/10
  • LOCATION 6/10
  • PRICE €/€€€
  • RESERVATION NEEDED no

  • TRIPADVISOR

The second and last day in Amsterdam we wanted to taste something local, so we opted for this bakery. A small pastry shop where you will find all possible kinds of croissants, cakes, muffins, and pastries. A very cozy place to kick-off the day full of energy (and calories of course). I would have eaten everything! The place inside is not very big, but there are enough seats to find your personal spot.

Lunch at Moeders

Amsterdam - Eat
  • FOOD 7/10
  • LOCATION 8/10
  • PRICE €/€€€
  • RESERVATION NEEDED no
  • INSTAGRAM
  • TRIPADVISOR

A place full of history and love. Moeders, which mean “mothers”, is a restaurant where you will be “watched” by hundreds of mothers, depicted in the infinite pictures hanging on the walls. Very suggestive! Moreover, cutlery is not paired, as it was brought by the people who attended the first opening. Each person would bring some dishes or glasses to refurbish the restaurant. Typical Dutch food, plus some international dishes, all very good.

Dinner at Restaurant De Plantage

Amsterdam - Eat
  • FOOD 7/10
  • LOCATION 9/10
  • PRICE €€€/€€€
  • RESERVATION NEEDED yes
  • INSTAGRAM
  • TRIPADVISOR

The only restaurant I would recommend is the Restaurant De Plantage. Located on the eastern side of the city, where the Artis Zoo is, this restaurant offers a combination of informality and sophistication in a delightful setting.

Where to sleep in Amsterdam

Amsterdam could be very expensive in some periods of the year. October is one of these, so you might prefer to choose a hotel a bit far from the city centre, but no problem since the public transportation is good.

Hotel Piet Hein

  • ROOM 7/10
  • LOCATION 9/10
  • PRICE/QUALITY RATIO 8/10
  • BOOKING

We were actually very lucky since we found a promotion for a tiny hotel next to the Museum Quarter: it is called Hotel Piet Hein. The room was a bit small, but we knew it as we saw the pictures on booking.com. However, the furniture was really nice, with high attention to detail, and it really felt like home.

I recently saw negative reviews, but I personally liked this hotel and the breakfast as well. Maybe it was just a matter of luck, but we found no negative aspects. Moreover, the position is great! I would recommend it!

My opinion about Amsterdam

Needless to say it. Absolutely yes, at least once in a lifetime. More times if you can! It’s the perfect destination for a weekend. Of course, it would need more days to be truly enjoyed up and down. But this is a great starting point! Highly recommended!
