Zadar and Pag

Zadar Pag Croatia

Continuing on our road trip through Croatia once left Plitvice Lakes National Park, we headed south, direction Zadar and Pag. The first stop was Pag.

The island of Pag: lunar scenarios and parties

Before heading to Zadar for our next stop, we wanted to discover the island of Pag, very well knows for crazy beach parties. Yet, we were not that interested in these parties…

The island of Pag, Croatia itinerary

The first part of the island, the one connected to the land through a bridge, is not much populated: you will find rare houses and stony landscapes that extend to the horizon. The end of the island is where life happens: beautiful beaches and popular beach clubs (mainly frequented by young people).

The island of Pag Croatia itinerary

The beach of Zrće is where parties start at sunset and end at sunset the day after. We opted for one opposite beach: Beach Planjka Trinćel. This portion of land is both free and equipped. There is only one beach club and to be honest, we didn’t really like it. The main reason for this is that it’s not very well equipped (poor quality sun umbrellas and sunbeds), plus it is not delimited with clear boundaries, so people that want to go for the free beach are basically sharing the same area with the guests of the beach club.

Similarly, another negative issue was the restaurant of the beach club: only a few meal options, basically junk food and everything was very fat. Since we are at the beach I thought we could have found lighter dishes…

My opinion about Pag

If you are up to beach parties, I heard this is the right place! If you are up to something more relaxing, you could find nice beaches. However, to reach them you will need to cross the entire island, which takes about one hour by car since there is only one two-lane road.

I don’t really feel like advising to visit Pag. I guess in hindsight we would not have visited the island. But if you want to be sure you don’t miss a corner of Croatia, you can combine Zadar and Pag in one day as we did.
